First 2 days
I made it to Coon Rapids on the Mississippi at the end of day 2. I'm staying at my aunt and uncle's house for the night. Been going a lot quicker than I thought. The Crow River wasn't so much a paddle as it was an obstacle course. Saw plenty of deer, geese, ducks, and a couple eagles. Spent last night just outside of Watertown. Everything going fine, glad to finally get started. I have a place to stay tomorrow night close to Ft. Snelling.

Rudy, Glad you made it off safely. Keep dry. As a canoe'er I sometimes wonder how kayakers and single canoeists manage tricky portage landings. Here's to keeping your boots dry !!!
ReplyDeleteSafe paddle,
Mark
this is incredible.
ReplyDeletedude. when you paddlin' through? madelyn and i are in the twin cities, we'll wave to you or buy you coffee or something.
hope you are safe!
Rudy,
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're off to a great start. On a hike with my 8-year-old today I mentioned that your journey had started and we chatted for a while about the importance of conservation. So there ya go, 2 days in and you're already increasing conservation awareness all the way down here in Colorado.
Have fun,
Chris
RUUUDYYYYY
ReplyDeleteYou have become legend among your distant acquaintances (you and I met at Jordan's place in Northfield). I hope you're having fantastic and relatively hazard-free adventures!
I also hope you're learning directions by stars (bad ass). I want to buy you six spare compasses just in case. But I bet you're backwoodsy enough to scoff at spare compasses.
You've gotta survive so we can become better friends real quick before you go away to school.
Happy trails (ri...rivers...?)!!
Prayed for you at Study tonight and the class prayed Sunday. Enjoyed your last post. Glad you are seeing wildlife and finding the journey going quicker these first days. The Hutch Leader had a really nice story about your departure on Sunday. Keep on paddling!! Janet
ReplyDeleteRudy,

Any chance we're going to hear from you?
